Sixth year in a row Boundary County jail passes inspection
BONNERS FERRY — The Boundary County Jail has met state standards for the sixth straight year.
“We recently received notice that the Boundary County Jail has once again passed the Idaho Sheriffs Association Jail Standards,” said Boundary County Sheriff Dave Kramer. “Meeting the standards is not only important for the safety of our inmates and detention deputies, but is also a financial benefit to the county in a reduction of the insurance costs. I am grateful for the dedicated staff that has helped make our jail able to meet the state standards for the sixth year in a row.”
Cindy Malm, Jail Standards coordinator/inspector for the Idaho Sheriffs' Association, completed an inspection of the jail on May 24.
She thanked Sgt. Bryant Brown for his assistance in helping her complete the inspection paperwork and the tour of the facility.
“Thank you for letting us use your office to do the paperwork. Sgt. Bryant sent me all of the information I requested via email prior to the inspection, which made the inspection process much faster,” she wrote Kramer in an email.
“The information was well organized and easy to read. Sgt. Bryant is great to work with and always responds immediately when I request anything,” she added. “I love coming to your facility as the staff are always friendly and I enjoy visiting with them. And, I enjoy listening to your proposals for change which are always very progressive.”
Malm wrote “because there are no mandatory standards out of compliance, I am pleased to recommend the Boundary County Jail for a 2022 Certificate of Compliance.”
