Rights come from God, not the Constitution

| August 18, 2022 1:00 AM

The argument was made in last week's paper that our rights come from the Constitution and we can do or say anything we want. Wrong. Our rights do not come from the Constitution. Our Declaration of Independence says it quite accurately.

Our rights come from Almighty God. And with those rights come duties and responsibilities enumerated in Scripture. One of those responsibilities according to God's word is to keep filthy material out of the hands of children.

Read Math.XV111 2-6. Another is to not publish it in the first place. Then you don't have to worry about it getting into the wrong hands.

The Constitution was written to guarantee the rights that man already had. And, according to one of its authors, was written for a moral and just society and is highly inadequate for any other. The responsibility of the electorate then is to only elect just moral Christian people to public offices and boot those out who prove to be otherwise.

The Constitution is not a suicide pact and does not include the freedom to destroy itself. These false ideas regarding the rights of man originated in our government school system which was taken over by Marxists long ago and is yet another reason to vote no on the bond on Aug. 30.
