Security Bank was chartered in 1932 in Arkansas. In 1966, the name was changed to First Security Bank. Branches of the financial institution opened across the United States. The local First Security Bank was constructed on Main Street in 1966-67 and opened in 1968. The bank closed in 1978.

Dr. Mark Barker purchased the building in 1978 for his optometry clinic; and today it is known as The Plaza Downtown with many office spaces.

This “piggy bank” was handed out to promote the bank. The idea was to save money in the piggy bank; then bring it into the bank and open an account. With no way to get the money out of the pig, the piggy bank would have been smashed or broken to retrieve the money. Isn’t it great that this “piggy” was not smashed and was donated to the museum?!
