Santa’s Village returning to Boundary County

| December 1, 2022 1:00 AM

For three years running, Jake’s Landing in Porthill has transformed into Santa’s Village.

This little town is not only “decking the halls” but will also be “decked out” in over 14,000 lights. The community is invited to come and enjoy all the festivities these next two weekends; Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9-10 and Dec. 16-17. Santa’s Village will be open from 1 to 7 p.m., offering all kinds of holiday activities.

At Santa’s Place: Santa will be smiling for pictures and will be passing out candy canes to all the children. Smoked barbecue meals with all the fixin’s will be served all day. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a bite to eat with the family or for a couple to enjoy a dinner surrounded by holiday excitement.

At Santa’s Shoppe: Mrs. Claus will have a story time for young children on the hour and half hour along with many fun free activities for the kids. Each child will receive an Activity Card to participate in all of the fun things to do at Santa’s Village; with prizes for each child before they leave.

In addition to visiting with Santa, Mrs. Claus, or enjoying an incredible meal, you may also enjoy sipping some season flavored hot chocolate or apple cider. Holiday craft making workshops will be offered at Santa’s Shoppe for a small fee to cover materials and instruction. Also, you can enjoy shopping at Santa’s Candy Corner or pick up a holiday ornament, mug, Christmas wreath, and more.

Santa’s Village at Jake’s Landing makes an excellent family adventure to see the lights, say hi to Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy the festive spirit or just hang out with friends and enjoy a meal. All are welcome.

“We want folks to come and enjoy the season here at Jake’s Landing’s Santa’s Village,” owner Lars Jacobson said. “Our family has always loved the Christmas season and we want to share some of that with the community.”

Wendy Jacobson, aka Mrs. Claus, said she hopes people will come and feel the spirit of this wonderful place.

“We love Christmas and everything it means in our lives. We have taught our 10 children that Christ is at the center of Christmas. Enjoy the season and remember the reason.”

When you turn off Highway 1 and head up into the village the first thing you’ll see is a Nativity scene of the newborn Christ child.

“We wanted the Nativity to be the first thing people see when they arrive and last thing when they leave,” Lars Jacobson said. “We can all enjoy the magical part of Christmas, but let’s always remember the spiritual part is the part that’s real.”

Be sure to bring your camera. Every lighted building, every exhibit and every decoration will be waiting to be your back drop for a selfie or family photo. Whether it’s with the 10-foot inflatable Santa Claus, Santa himself, Mrs. Claus, the many elves, the 14,000 lights, or the Nativity scene, there is no charge to take photographs.

The Jacobsons’ hope is that families and friends will come and enjoy a few hours these next two weekends visiting, eating, shopping, and playing at Santa’s Village.
