BONNERS FERRY — The Badgers struck first and kept up the pace to defeat the Deer Park Stags in a non league contest on Dec. 6.

In the first quarter, Braeden Blackmore had three steals for the Badgers, who led by 10 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was a back-and-forth battle, but the Badgers continued to pull ahead.

In the third and fourth quarters, the Badgers were sent to the free throw line and were six for eight. The Badgers took the win 65-48.

Asher Williams was the high scorer for the Badgers with 15 points, followed closely by Charles Henslee with 13 and Thomas Batemen with 12.

For the Stags, Seth Hickman scored a whopping 26 points.

“They made some runs on the ball and we made runs,” said Bonners Ferry coach Nathan Williams. “That’s what you want this time in the season.”

He said the Badgers were able to adapt to Deer Park’s 2-3 zone.

The Badgers are 3-0 and will play East Valley on Saturday at home.
