EUREKA, Mont. — Badger wrestling took top honors again with every girl placing at the Buzz Lucey Tournament, with two boys also placing.

Badgers Nevaeh Therrien 6-4 (107), Gena Kelsey 1-2 (145) and Savannah Rickter 6-0 (185) took first for their weight classes. Lindesy Onstott 6-4 (152) took second and Aubrey Wells 4-3 (135) took third.

“The girls continue to be awesome and all five of them placed in the top three,” Bonners Ferry coach Travis Stolley told the Herald. “They continue to impress and their hard work at practice is showing on the mat.”

Boys wrestling is making ground as Hunter Fulton (126) took fourth and Porter Blackmore (145) took third at the tournament.

Fulton opted to go up a weight class and wrestled at 126 and still got fourth, which shows mental toughness and willingness to do what it takes to get mat time, Stolley said.

At this time, three Badger boys are competing at the 120 weight.

Blackmore was in a 15-man bracket and lost the first match by one point to the eventual first placer. He went on to wrestle several other competitors in the consolation round to earn his third place.

“He wrestled some tough matches, showed heart and conditioning,” Stolley said.

The Badgers continue to improve as the season goes further with goals set on districts and state, he said.

The B-Cup against Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed.
