The first try-out of Bonners Ferry’s new electric power plant located near Moyie Springs on the Moyie River, was made the first of this week and Manager Hughes states that the new system will be used for city lights and power.

Z.J. Foust met with a painful accident Friday when the horse he was riding fell and Mr. Foust was kicked on the jaw and back. Mr. Foust was rendered unconscious by the blow on the jaw, and the kick on his back cracked several ribs.

“The sale of Christmas seals by school children began one week ago,” said Mrs. R.H. McCoy, in charge of Christmas seal sales in Bonners Ferry.

Russell Docherty and Harv Pedey have purchased Plum Chevrolet automobile dealership and went into business last Saturday. Docherty has long been associated with the agency and Pedey has also been in business here for several years.

Organization of a new plywood pulp, particleboard lumber and timber company was approved by stockholders of Georgia Pacific Corp. The plan sets up an independent Louisiana Pacific Corp. with approximately 20 percent of G-P’s assets.

Bonners Ferry High School’s Badger yearbook has been rated “second class-good” in competition with similar publications from throughout the state according to a release from the University of Idaho recently.

Horizons Steering Committee is a community leadership project hoping to reduce poverty in Boundary County. It is a two-year project led by University of Idaho.

The local Masonic Lodge, Bonners Ferry No. 43 AF & AM, installed Lon Woodbury as its worshipful master for 2008.

Four students on the Bonners Ferry Academic Decathlon won medals at the Dec. 8 competition in Sandpoint. Taylor Dinning, Zachary Callister, Ticen Taylor and Brooke Roney all won medals.
