From the Archives–Dec. 29, 2022
Once again it is time to say “Have a Happy New Year.” As we move into 2023, we come closer to the 100th birthday of the 1923 REO fire truck in your museum.
The Bonners Ferry Fire Department purchased the 1923 REO in 1925. It had been a demo truck; featuring all the possible options most other fire trucks did not have. This truck replaced the man-powered hose reel, which is on display in front of the Bonners Ferry Fire Station.
Art Zimmerman and son, Richard, posed with the REO in front of the Gilt Top Cigar Store on Main Street (site of Youngwirth Accounting) in 1926.
Happy New Year and Happy 100th Birthday to the REO fire truck!
