Doesn't city know nothing in life is free?

| February 3, 2022 1:00 AM

Someone just told me that the City Council agreed to accept the ARPA funds. Are you kidding me? Didn't anyone ever tell them that "nothing in life is free?"

The federal government put a carrot in front of their nose and they took it! This is "upfront" money from the federal government that will force the city to implement some form of mandates or compliance, at some point in time.

"What if, "late one night an unmarked bus shows up with a 100 or more refugees and drops them off in front of City Hall. After all, they need to be placed somewhere; and the city now has the money to house and care for them.

"What if" the federal government tells you how to run your city with mandates, restrictions and demands? How are the citizens who elected you folks to the city council going to like that?

And, "what if" the city doesn't comply? The federal government can ask for their money back; accusing the city of "misuse of funds." Just possibilities …

There has been too much government overreach these days, in to small towns far and wide, challenging our rights, freedoms and way of life.

It was unfortunate that the town's people were unable to convince the city council to not accept federal funds.
