Fight against ARPA funds and keep Idaho free

| February 3, 2022 1:00 AM

In Sen. Jim Woodward’s Notes From Boise column regarding the $5.74 billion that the state of Idaho has received in ARPA funds from the feds, he’s touting how great it will be to spend that money.

Did you know that ARPA has strings attached that say you have to follow all executive orders or risk returning the money? The feds have already tried to enforce compliance in Arizona regarding mask mandates and ARPA funding. This is the very reason why Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler returned his ARPA money.

Senator Woodward needs to be replaced with someone who is constitutionally grounded. He eagerly takes any “free money” offered, even though it would hurt his constituency. He is not in our court. He was one of three senators who flipped their vote not to override the governor’s veto on ending the emergency. Senator Woodward is not to be trusted with Idahoans' welfare. Don’t get me wrong. He’s a nice man, but a socialist at heart.

Wake up. Fight against any ARPA money and keep Idaho free.
