Stolley promoted to detective

BONNERS FERRY — Travis Stolley has been promoted from a patrol deputy to detective with the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office.

Stolley is filling a vacancy that came open with the retirement of Detective Dave McClelland. Stolley holds an Idaho Advanced Peace Officer certification, a Bachelor of Science degree and an instructor certification. He also has been the coordinator of the Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy program.

In addition to his law enforcement training and experience, he served as a helicopter mechanic and crew chief with the Marine Corps from 2005 through 2014. He was deployed to Iraq twice and Afghanistan once and was attached to the Marine Expeditionary Unit in the Persian Gulf.

Stolley grew up in Boundary County and has been active in volunteering his time to help youth in the community by teaching hunter education for many years, and being a wrestling coach at the middle school.

Stolley said that he is excited to grow both personally and professionally in this new position as a detective. BCSO officials said they are excited to have Stolley in his new role as detective. His work ethic and ability to work with people will be a great fit for the detective position, said BCSO officials.
