In a tight game, Badgers fall to Kellogg 60-56

BONNERS FERRY — The Badgers boys led Kellogg early on, but ultimately fell to the Wildcats’ pressure in the fourth quarter, losing 60-56.

The Badgers and Wildcats had a back-and-forth game, the first quarter finishing 12-12. In the second quarter, the Badgers had a 12-point run to combat several turnovers. As a result, Bonners Ferry inched away from the Wildcats to finish the half 37-26.

Kellogg came back from halftime ready, but the Badgers were able to maintain a six-point lead going into the fourth. In the final quarter, it was a back-and-forth battle. In the last two minutes after a turnover, the Wildcats surpassed the Badgers with a 57-56 score. In the last minute with only a one-point deficit, the Badgers turned the ball over and sent the Wildcats to the free throw line.

Kellogg’s Colby Luna made both of his free throws. Making the score 59-56. After another Badger turnover, Luna was sent to the line again and made one of his two shots to give the Wildcats a 60-56 victory.

Ridge Williams, Asher Williams, Ethan Hubbard and Braeden Blackmore scored in the double digits for the Badgers. Hubbard and Ridge Williams each had two three-point shots. Blackmore led the team with 11 rebounds, and Hubbard added eight.

The Badgers are 1-1 in league. Kellogg is 2-0.

The boys games against Stillwater Christian and Timberlake were canceled and are in the process of being rescheduled. The Badgers played Priest River on Wednesday, but due to print time the story will appear in the next edition of the Bonners Ferry Herald. Badgers will be at Kellogg on Friday.
