We must protect our rights before it is too late

| February 10, 2022 1:00 AM

The American Rescue Planning Act wants to give our city free money to do what we want with it. That's what the federal government told us last summer.

Then in December, they began to tell us what the requirements were. Nothing is free.

When the Bonners Ferry City Council met on Tuesday evening they found the council room full of people, who wanted to tell them about ARPA, and that no money from the federal government is free. Though the feds gave this money last summer, it wasn't until the end of the year when they sent 427 pages including requirements for taking the money.

During the public comment time, 18 people from the city and county explained to the council that they live here, want freedom retained, and think tyranny is at our doorstep. Many people came from other states, who have already lost much of their freedom. They want us to stand for our individual freedom and constitutional rights, not give our freedoms away.

After looking into ARPA and its requirements, Bonner County gave back the money. The people here want to do the same.

We must stand for what is best for us before it's too late.
