‘Volley for a Cure’ funds given to cancer support group
BONNERS — Bonners Ferry High School varsity volleyball senior captains Sierra Petesch and Lexie Maas recently presented the Bonners Ferry Women’s Cancer and Support Group with a donation check for $3,170.
The amount included proceeds raised from the silent auction during the “Volley for a Cure” game at the high school, the “Volley for a Cure” game at the middle school and gate entry fees for the games in October 2021.
The cancer support group helps pay for medical needs and gas cards for women undergoing treatment in Boundary County. Virginia Sanborn, treasurer, received the check on behalf of the group.
“We really appreciated the money because we use it to purchase gas cards that we give to Boundary County cancer patients for travel to their treatments,” Sanborn said.
The group has been doing this for about 20 years and such support helps this program continue, she said.
