Remember the "good ol' days" when families and neighbors would meet at the local grange or community hall for parties and dances? The idea was that everyone would "Eat, Drink, Dance, and Be Merry!" — as this wonderful newspaper announcement advertises.
This advertisement was in the July 5, 1934, BF Herald. The communities of Curley Creek and Troy, Montana were abuzz with excitement, because Andy Gumpf's Orchestra would be playing. Others from surrounding communities attended as well.
As you can see, Andy Gumpf's Orchestra was "One of Montana's Most Popular Six-Piece Dance Bands." The band consisted of five brothers and one sister, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Gumpf of German descent. They played at dances from the Idaho/Montana line to Kalispell.
As Howard would say, "A good time was had by all."
