Mirror Lake Ladies’ Golf Club hits the links

It's been a fun time on the links with the Mirror Lake Ladies Golf Club.

The game of the day on Wednesday, June 8, was the “dot” game, in which players score points for drive in fairway, bogey, par, birdie, one putt and chip-ins, and have points subtracted for sand traps, out of bounds and shots landing in the water.

The winners were Karen English, first place; Therese Helmer, second place; and Jenny Link, third place. In the A group, Therese Helmer won for low gross with 45 and low net with 35. In the B group, Carrie Figgins won for low gross with 51 and low net with 32. Etta Mae Schneurle won the low putts award with 13. Etta Mae had a chip-in on Hole No. 7, and Ruth Ann Wilson had a chip in on Hole No. 1.

The Mirror Lake Ladies Golf Association meets every Wednesday at Mirror Lake Golf at 10 a.m. All interested lady golfers are welcome to join in. The game of the Day on Wednesday, June 15, was "Throw Out Your Worst Hole," everyone's favorite.

The low gross winner in Flight A, was Jenny Link with 50. Low net winner in Flight A, was Maureen Blackmore with 39. In Flight B, Wendy Hawks won low gross honors with 63 and Wendy, Carrie Figgins and Beverly Comegys tied for low, each with 43. Marie Villelli won for low putts with 16.

On Wednesday, June 22, Game of the Day was "Longest putt on Hole No. 9." The winner was Annie Swift with an 18-foot putt.

Low gross winner, Flight A, was Karita Wolfe with 50. Low net winner, Flight A, was Tara Lee with 41. In Flight B, Wendy Hawks won low gross honors with 56, and low net with 38. Buzz Thiel and Maureen Blackmore tied for low putts with 17 each.

On Wednesday, June 29, was "Ace of the Month" day, which was also the Game of the Day. Winner, and Ace of the Month of June was Maureen Blackmore with a net 34.

Jenny Link was low gross winner, Flight A, with 48. In Flight B, Wendy Hawks won low gross with 57 and low net with 38. There were three chip-ins: Holly Alexander on Hole No. 4, Beverly Comegys on Hole No. 1, and Linda Rupley on Hole No. 9. Karen English won for Low Putts with 14.

The Mirror Lake Ladies Golf Club meets every Tuesday at 5 p.m. and/or every Wednesday at 9 a.m. The results reported above include both Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning players.
