Sitting on the sidelines can lead to disaster

| June 2, 2022 1:00 AM

Dirty politics, lies and misinformation. That's what it took to beat Jim Woodward.

Thanks to Las Vegas political firm — McShane LLC — with ties to groups including the Proud Boys, and along with the extremist group Idaho Freedom Foundation — Scott Herndon's campaign was able to send out negative glossy mailers to Bonner County residents claiming Mr. Woodward is a RINO and a liberal politician along with exaggerated false claims.

All the while Mr. Woodward's record shows that he is an honest, hardworking local individual who has given the state of Idaho four years of dedicated service. A man who is willing to work with his fellow legislators and work across the aisle to get the job done. Unlike some of the extremist members of our Idaho Legislature who are in constant turmoil and aggression with other members in an attempt to satisfy their own personal agendas.

It was a primary unlike any we have witnessed in Bonner County. The mudslinging, name calling and downright lying about a candidate is not only unethical it seems to be the norm by the extremist crowd. These folks have been brainwashed to believe anything they are told by their leaders — no matter how farfetched the claims are.

All of you who didn't vote in this past primary election need to wake up and realize how important it is to cast your vote, and what an extraordinary right it is to be allowed to vote for something you believe in. Sitting on the sidelines and not participating can lead to disaster.

As we have witnessed this May 17.
