| June 9, 2022 1:00 AM

BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County Parks and Recreation is starting a Senior Walking class from June 13 to Aug. 19.

Nancy Schaffer, sports manager at Parks and Rec, said that this is the first time such a class has been organized at Parks and Rec.

The class will be a designated walking time Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7-8 p.m at Riverside Park.

There is a $10 registration fee for the class which includes a T-shirt and a group photo. There is a 5K Challenge on Aug. 20.

If you have questions or concerns about your ability to participate, contact your doctor.

Walking leaders and sweepers are needed for different days to help the program move smoothly and to keep walkers together. Any adult volunteers looking to be a walk leader or sweeper should contact Parks and Recreation at bcpark_rec@yahoo.com. Walk leaders don’t need to volunteer for the entire 10-week program.
