At the meeting of the Kootenai Valley Commercial Club held Monday night, Mayor E.E. Fry suggested a plan whereby it may be possible for the Commercial Club to secure permanent and spacious quarters in the soon to be built new City Hall.

Henry Charles Baumgartner, the only living son of Mike Baumgartner, was drowned early Sunday morning in the Kootenai River at the boom camp of the Bonners Ferry Lumber Company, east of town.

The Western Union Telegraph Co. has discontinued its city office in Bonners Ferry and hereafter all business of the company will be taken care of at the station of the Great Northern Railway Co.

Officials of Boundary County, U.S. Forest Service, and Georgia Pacific this week jointly agreed to pave ten miles of Westside Road. The agreement calls for paving the road from the junction of the Copeland Road to the junction of Smith Creek and Boundary Creek Roads.

Boundary County Grassman of the Year is Royal Shields. Good weather, fine food, and a turnout of more than 250 people made the 1972 Grassman of the Year Picnic a highly successful gathering.

Second Lieutenant David G. Walter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irby Walter, Bonners Ferry, was one of 65 student pilots who received their silver wings after 48 weeks of intensive training at graduation ceremonies held at Williams Air Force Base.

With 96 graduating seniors last Saturday afternoon, friends and family showed up to honor their seniors and share in this once in a lifetime experience.

The Boundary County Education Foundation, represented by Bobbie Bowen, donated dictionaries to Jan Studer’s eighth grade class at Boundary County Middle School on May 30.

Fifth graders from throughout Bonner and Boundary Counties participated in the Fifth Grade Music Outreach Program and Concert last Thursday afternoon at BFHS.
