BONNERS FERRY — A Washington man has been arrested on drug charges and an active warrant after being stopped for a speeding infraction.

Heath L. Lynn, 31, of Washington, was stopped southbound on U.S. 95 and Jackson Street when he clocked him on radar doing 55 mph in a 35 mph zone, Boundary County Sheriff’s Deputy Alan Schleif wrote in an affidavit.

When writing a speeding citation, dispatchers advised Schleif that Lynn had an open non-extraditable warrant from Washington for dangerous drugs. Schleif requested the drug detective dog and BCSO Cpl. Mike Valenzuela. BFPD Officer Jeremy Garrett arrived on scene.

Valenzuela asked if any drugs were in the car. The passenger reached into the center console picking up two glass dab containers, saying the dabs contained THC. Lynn told officers that it was his.

The K9 ran around the vehicle and no alert was observed, according to court documents. Schlief ran a search of the car and observed a glass pipe or a bong in the map pocket of the driver’s side door. The pipe was burnt on the end, which is consistent with marijuana pipes, wrote Schleif.

Another glass pipe was found with brown-colored water inside and residue at the end. A metal lockbox with combination code buttons was found under the front passenger seat. After Lynn provided the four-digit code, inside was a glass pipe with burnt at both ends and a crystal-like substance in a glass container. When asked what the substance was, Lynn replied, “that’s meth.”

Also, recovered was a dig scale, unused syringes and more pipes. Lynn told officers that the items were his. After Lynn was handcuffed, small clear plastic baggies of suspected meth was found during a search, court records indicated.

Lynn was transported to Boundary County jail and booked.

Lynn is being charged with drug trafficking methamphetamine, a felony, and two misdemeanors of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia use or the intent to use.

A preliminary hearing was initially scheduled for June 3, but was rescheduled due to a stipulation of an additional two weeks to allow Lynn to seek private legal counsel. The stipulation also dropped the bond from $100,000 to $20,000. Speeding charges have also been dropped.
