Rosemary (Dolly) Veltri, 96
Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend to all, Rosemary (Dolly) Veltri, 96, passed away June 8, 2022.
Dolly was born March 20, 1926, in Tacoma, Wash. She was the daughter of Gladys and James Hamilton. Dolly was born the sixth of seven children. Dolly grew up 40 miles from Mount Rainier. As a child, she was a tomboy, playing baseball and football. Her dad took them on Sunday rides to Puget Sound for picnics.
She met the love of her life Louie Veltri, in Tacoma and they married on May 27, 1943, in Newport, Wash., and moved to Priest River, Idaho. Dolly was an avid gardener and fabulous homemaker. She traveled with Louie during construction jobs in Washington and Alaska for many years before retiring on the Pend Oreille River, where they built their retirement home.
A very special thanks to her private caregiver, Loy Daub, for all her special care and love. She became a very dear friend for Dolly. Dolly is survived by her children: son Ken Veltri, daughters Shirley Bitton and husband Keith, and Bonnie Senter and husband Dennis; her grandchildren, Ben Veltri, Sheila Webb, Nicole Froemming, Darren Bitton, Barbara Davis and Kari Cobb; and seven great-grandchildren.
Dolly is preceded in death by her husband, Louie Veltri; all of her sisters and brothers and parents; and her granddaughter, Denise Senter (Ashley).
There will be a private graveside ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Priest River Cemetery. It will be followed by a reception at the old school house at the Settlement.
