BFPD officer’s quick reactions save citizen from possible Fentanyl OD

On Feb. 24, officers of the Bonners Ferry Police Department were called to AJ’s Bowling Alley for a report of suspicious activity occurring in the location’s restroom.
On arrival and subsequent investigation, officers learned that Jacob A. Wanner-Vanetten, 32, of Moyie Springs, had been in the restroom for an extended period of time. During which, he was smoking and ingesting fentanyl.
BFPD Officer Scott Davis was quick to recognize the objective symptoms of possible drug influence and indications that Wanner-Vanetten might be lapsing into an overdose. Davis requested the assistance of Boundary Ambulance. BFPD Officer Malorie Stippich deployed a dose of Narcan, reviving Wanner-Vanetten and stabilizing him until he was under the care of medical personnel.
Once cleared from Boundary Community Hospital, Jacob Wanner-Vanetten was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
