Dessert Dash raises $15,000 for Procedural Care Clinic
BONNERS FERRY — When the Fry Healthcare Foundation put on the Festival of Hearts and Dessert Dash this past February; they raised over $15,000 to put toward the Procedural Care Clinic.
The Procedural Care Clinic aims to help Bonners Ferry residents get the care they need in the community with services including, but not limited to blood products administration, medication administration, intravenous fluid administration, vascular access care, phlebotomy, procedural sedation, wound care, and assisting with out-patient procedures.
Before the clinic was put in place patients often had to travel to Coeur d’Alene or Sandpoint for these services, Danielle Larsson community relations and marketing director for Boundary Community Hospital, said.
“These funds will be used to remodel a room to accommodate the PCC Clinic, and provide the necessary equipment,” Larsson said. “We had 25 desserts donated as well as 25 items donated for auction, thanks to our wonderful community.”
The auxiliary will also be having a pie sale on March 17 at the Veterans Hall. They are looking for desserts to be donated as well, and are looking for new members.
Last year, the Fry Healthcare Foundation raised enough funds to provide the hospital with two crash carts, a state-of-the-art surgical table, and a podiatry table through the support of their sponsors and generous donors, Larsson said.
The Foundation is off to another strong start this year with a hugely successful Festival of Hearts and Dessert Dash Raffle, she said.
Those interested in donating a dessert in the future for Dessert Dash or the auxiliary March 17 pie sale, are asked to reach out to Danielle Larsson at 208-267-6912.
