OROFINO — Badger baseball went 0-3 against Orofino, finishing within one point of the Maniacs in two of the games.

In the three games, the Badgers left 39 runners on base without scoring, head coach Tom Turpin said.

“If we had had timely hits, we would have scored more,” Turpin said.

He said he isn’t too concerned with the three losses. Last year, the Badgers went 0-3 against Orofino and still went on to be district champions.

Orofino has been practicing on their fields for two weeks. They are well coached and a good team, Turpin said.

“It is a tremendous advantage to be outside instead of a gym. You can’t practice grounders in the gym,” he said. “There are some things for us to correct before our games next Friday.”

The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a record of 0-3. Grangeville lost 18-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Sugar-Salem.
