OROFINO — Badger softball finished 0-3 against Orofino, but after two games on the field, Bonners Ferry finished the third game within one point of the Maniacs.

Due to North Idaho weather, this was the first time that the team had played on grass. Many of the players are still new to the game.

Head coach Kassy Skeen said the team’s focus this year is getting back to the fundamentals due to the large number of new players and to help establish a strong mindset for the team. Skeen has said that when the team went to state last year that they broke themselves down before they even went to the plate.

In the third game, the Maniacs scored 12 runs in the second inning, but the Badgers dug deep and came back to finish within one of Orofino.

Game 1, Badgers lose 19-2

Bonners Ferry 100 1 — 2 4 0

Game 2 Badgers lose 20-6
