Badgers fall by one run against Bulldogs; smash Lumberjacks in double header

SANDPOINT — The Badgers kept things close against the Bulldogs in the second game of a doubleheader, but ultimately lost by one run.

Bonners Ferry lost the first game of the doubleheader, 9-2. In the second game, the Badgers went on a 4-0 spurt in the second to take a 4-1 lead. The Bulldogs fought back in the third and the fifth scoring two runs each inning, taking the lead 5-4. The Badgers dug deep, but finished the second game with a loss by one run.

In the first game, after two scoreless innings, the Bulldogs scored three runs in both the bottom of the third and fourth innings to take a 6-0 advantage.

Bonners scored two runs during the top of the fifth, but Sandpoint quickly answered with three more runs to take a 9-2 advantage and the win.

The Badgers are 3-7 in non-league play. They start league play against Priest River on April 13.

Badgers smash Lumberjacks in double header

BONNERS FERRY — Badger baseball beat the St. Maries Lumberjacks in a non-league double header March 26.

The Badgers kept the first inning scoreless by Elijah Dahl and David Hammons getting a runner out at first base.

With the Badgers up to bat in the second inning, Porter Schulte got to second base off an error made by the Lumberjacks at first base. Wilson Newell got to first. Schulte and Newell stole third and second. Once Roger Naylor earned a walk, bases were loaded.

Bo Bateman was up to bat and hit a line drive to center field, scoring two runs and putting the Badgers in the lead 2-0. The Badgers scored five more runs in second and three more in the third. St. Maries was scoreless until the third inning. The Badgers took the win 12-2.

In the second game St. Maries had a 2-1 lead at the end of the first inning. The Badgers held the Lumberjacks scoreless the rest of the game and took the win 8-2.
