BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry Fire Department officials said the department is set to receive a 2009 Freightliner rescue/pumper truck to replace its 1988 Engine 2 vehicle. The cost will be $126,500 for the total purchase and for shipping.

New fire engines start out at $300,000 range averaging more around $600,000, Lisa Aliport, city administrator, said. Due to the pricing a used engine was more economical, she added.

Prior to purchase, the vehicle will be inspected.
