Paul Steven Perez

| March 31, 2022 1:00 AM

Paul Steven Perez passed away on March 17, 2022, at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital in Montana at the age of 61 due to COVID complications. Paul was born on Feb. 19, 1961, in Bradenton, Florida, to Alexander and Joyce Perez. He was the sixth of seven siblings.

Paul moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, as a teenager with his family. As a young man, Paul married Carolyn Phillips, and had two sons, Paul David and Casey Andrew. In 1993, Paul was remarried to Connie Schenck. They added another son, Jake Anthony, to the family.

Paul was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed crafting with wood. He spent much time designing and building small furniture, whirligigs, and all kinds of toys for his family, friends, and the children in the neighborhood. He always seemed to have three or four projects going at the same time.

His favorite place to be was outdoors with his family. He spent many hours hunting, getting firewood, fishing, riding his horse and exploring his favorite mountain, Katka. Paul also spent time searching for Christmas trees and huckleberries each year in just the right places. When not in the woods, he enjoyed spending time in his own backyard pruning his fruit trees, building and maintaining his pond, making the yard look beautiful and sitting around the fire pit enjoying the evening.

Paul was very much a child at heart. He loved to laugh while watching old cartoons. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends on a Sunday afternoon, listening to music, and good science fiction or western movies. Paul was always happiest when connecting with his boys whether they were out plinking at cans, working on the trucks, or just communicating by phone.

Paul is survived by his two sons, Paul Perez Jr. of El Cajon, California, and Jake Perez of Spokane, Washington. He has four grandchildren, Eliora, Jaina, Breanna, and Kemina Perez. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara; his brother, Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews, and his longtime companion Connie. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Alex, his brothers; Alex, Joe, and Ron; his sister, Cathy; his son, Casey; and his grandson, Roric Davis-Perez.

Paul will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Grandview Cemetery. Everyone is also welcome to a gathering at the Memorial Hall at the fairgrounds following the service.
