Softball gets things rolling during non-league play

BONNERS FERRY — Badgers softball gets things rolling against St. Maries as they come to the end of non-league play.

Top of the fourth inning in the first game Kaylee Sumpter gained a walk, stole second base and then third after a catching error by St. Maries.

The next badger up a line drive to center field scoring a run and made it to first base. She then stole second base, third base and home plate scoring the badgers third run of the game.

The Badgers finished the first game striking out a St. Maries batter.

Head coach Kassy Skeen said she knew the girls gave it their all out on the field and they were ready for the next game.

The Badgers kept up the momentum gained from the first game, scoring six runs in the first four innings. Badger softball is 0-7 in non-league play.

Intermountain league opponent Priest River is 0-4 in non-league play and lost to St. Maries 24-1 and 14-1 earlier last week. The Badgers will play the Spartans in their first IML contest April 13.

Badger softball will be playing at Lincoln County April 5 at 3:30 p.m and at Thompson Falls April 9th at 2 p.m.
