Candlelight Vigil for Fallen Officers May 13

| May 12, 2022 1:00 AM

The National 35th annual Candlelight Vigil is a time to remember the law enforcement officers who fell in the line of duty in 2021.

The Bonners Ferry observance is hosted by the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office and Chaplain Corps. It is a time to reflect and read the names of the people who lost their lives in the line of duty last year and to encourage the living. All are invited to come and participate.

The ceremony will feature the local honor guard, a memorial wreath presentation, a traditional last call, and the reading of the line of duty death list.

“We will for the first time read the names of all Idaho peace officers who have died in the line of duty since records began in 1883, a total of 74 names,” officials said.

The event is scheduled for May 13 at 6 p.m. on the lawn of Boundary County Sheriff's office, 6438 Kootenai St., Bonners Ferry.

In the event of significant rainfall, the event will move across the street to the meeting hall in the City of Bonners Ferry Fire Station No. 1. For more information about the local remembrance, or to volunteer to assist with the event, please contact BFPD Chaplain Len Pine at 208-267-3327.
