Myrna Lavey Phillips Carlson Watkins, 86

Myrna Lavey Phillips Carlson Watkins, 86, passed away May 5, 2022.

She was born Aug. 15, 1935, in Mesa, Idaho, to Leslie (Jack) and Almeda Phillips. She was raised with three sisters and a brother on an apple orchard and later moved to North Idaho where her dad followed the lumber industry.

She graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1954. She met and married C. Warren Carlson in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, at the end of 1954. The following year, she gave birth to her first son, Wayne, and then Richard five years later.

She was employed by several businesses in Bonners Ferry and notoriously known for working at a department store named the Pink Lion. She was involved at Trinity Lutheran Church by volunteering to help make many quilts for their ministry and participating in the Women’s Circle. Her favorite hobbies were planting a garden every year and being outside in the mountains and forest to camp, hike, hunt and fish with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Carlson; parents Jack and Almeda Philips; brother Roy (Bud) Phillips; sister Connie Sue Hatch; daughter-in-law Linda Carlson; second husband Willie Watkins and son Richard Carlson.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Carlson of Post Falls, Idaho; daughter-in-law Nancy Carlson of Bonners Ferry; sister Marva (Ed) Miller of Kingman, Ariz.; sister Sally (Rick) White of Jacksonville, Texas; grandsons Kyle Carlson of Portland, Ore., Gregg (Francis) Carlson of Moyie Springs, Idaho, and Kelly Carlson of Marysville, Wash.; granddaughters Monica (Ted) Humphrey of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Amanda Carlson of Sandpoint, Idaho; six great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters. She is also survived by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and close friends.

Funeral services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry. Burial services will be held at the Grandview Cemetery following the funeral service. Flowers or other condolences can be sent to Bonners Ferry Funeral Home, 6485 Harrison St., Bonners Ferry.
