Herndon and Dixon win D1 bids in primary

BONNERS FERRY — The votes are in and counted for the May 17 primary and the results are as posted.

Idaho Legislative District 1

With all ballots counted, Scott Herndon has won the Republican nomination for the District 1 Idaho Senate seat, defeating incumbent Jim Woodward. Herndon received a total of 7,771 votes district-wide to Woodward's 6,064.

In Boundary County, Herndon received 1,871 votes against Woodward’s 1,358.

For District 1’s state House representative position A, became open when Heather Scott was moved to the new District 2. Mark Sauter received 4,816 votes, or 38.25%, to claim the Republican nomination for the District 1A seat. Spencer Hutchings received 4,093 votes, or 32.51%; Adam Rorick received 749 votes, or 5.95%; Travis Thompson received 1,929 votes, or 15.32%; and Cynthia P. Weiss received 1,004 votes, or 7.97%.

On the Democratic side of the ticket, Steve Johnson received 973 votes.

For District 1’s state House representative position B, incumbent Sage G. Dixon received 7,049 votes, or 52.28%. He defeated challenger Todd Engel, who received 6,435 votes, or 47.72%. There were no Democratic candidates for the seat.

In Boundary County, Dixon received 1,577 votes and Engle received 1,576 votes. Dixon won the GOP nomination by one vote.

Idaho

In Boundary County, in the Republican race for the governor's seat, Steven R. Bradshaw received 97 votes; Ben Cannady received 7 votes; Edward R. Humphreys received 291 votes; Ashley Jackson received 27 votes; Brad Little received 1,119 votes; Lisa Marie received 16 votes; Janice McGeachin received 1,785 votes; Cody Usabel received 8 votes.

Statewide, Little was declared the winner in the GOP governor’s race.

On the Democratic side of the ticket, Stephen Heidt received 110 votes; Shelby Rognstad received 42 write-in votes.

On the Libertarian ticket, John Dionne Jr. received 4 votes; and Paul Sand received 3 votes.

On the Constitution Party ticket, Chantyrose Davison received 3 votes.

In the Republican race for lieutenant governor in Boundary County, Scott Bedke received 948 votes; Daniel J. Gasiorowski received 153 votes; and District 7 Rep. Priscilla Giddings, who gave up her seat to run for lieutenant governor, received 1,964 votes.

Statewide, Scott Bedke was declared the winner.

On the Democratic side of the ticket, Terri Pickens Manweiler received 153 votes, or 100%; and on the Constitution Party ticket, Pro-Life (formerly knowns as Marvin Richardson) received 3 votes.

In the race for Secretary of State, Phil McCrane received 737 votes, in the county; Dorothy Moon received 1,901 votes, or 62.6%; and Mary Souza received 397 votes.

Statewide, McCrane was declared the winner.

In the Republican race for Idaho Attorney General, in Boundary County, Raul Labrador received 2,153 votes, or 68.897%; Arthur "Art" Macomber received 405 votes; and Lawrence Wasden received 568 votes.

Statewide, Raul Labrador was declared the winner.

In the race for Superintendent of Public Instruction, on the Republican side of the ticket in Boundary County, Debbie Critchfield received 781 votes; Branden J. Durst received 1,765 votes, or 59.2%; and Sherri Ybarra received 434 votes.

Statewide, Debbie Critchfield was declared the winner for the GOP nomination.

On the Democratic side, Terry L. Gilbert was named the nominee.

For U.S. senator, Brenda Bourn received 137 votes in Boundary County, Mike Crapo received 1,914 votes, Natalie M. Fleming received 130 votes, Scott Trotter received 607 votes and Ramont Turnbull received 141 votes.

Statewide, Crapo was named the winner.
