VIDEO: Hazy and breezy weather starts new October week

It has been an incredibly warm start to October, and Autumn for that matter. As of October 9, 2022 has been the warmest start to Fall on record, with an average temperature of 65 degrees. The average high temp has been above 78 degrees, which is mind blowing for the first 6 weeks of Fall!

A cold front that will push through the northwest today will cause the weather to be hazy and breezy. Hazy, because wildfire smoke that has been building over over the Cascades and western slopes will be pushed eastward towards the Inland Northwest. No air quality drops expected for our area.

Winds will be breezy as the cold front passes tonight, gusting up to 30 mph in some areas.

Temperatures today are mid 70s ahead of the cold front. But temps don't drop all that much on the backside. Low 70s on Tuesday and then back into the mid 70s for the rest of the week. The reason is that a massive jet stream ridge once again sets up over the west coast, like it did last week. Temperatures remain 15 degrees above average, which is mid 70s (instead of near 80) now.

The long term outlooks continue to remain incredibly warm for mid-October standards.
