Badger boys soccer defeat CDA Charter
BONNERS FERRY — The Badgers boys soccer team defeated Coeur d’Alene Charter 3-1 in their final home game on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The Badgers scored in the first half with a penalty kick made by Ridge Williams following a Charter handball in the box.
In the second half, Charter responded by scoring on a penalty kick, bringing the score to 1-1. The Badgers responded with a combination of defensive and offensive play that saw two goals by junior Eli Newell and a final score of 3-1.
“It was a solid win at home with all-around team play and communication and was a rewarding way to end the regular season and head into the district tournament,” coach Paul Bonnell said.
The Badgers are 13-2-1 and are ranked second in 3A District 1 with Timberlake taking top honors with a record of 10-0-1. The Badgers are on a four-game winning streak.
The Badgers are 6-1 in their conference and are ranked second in 3A District 1.
On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the boys varsity traveled to Priest River, posting an 8-1 win, to bounce back for a 2-1 loss at home to Timberlake on Thursday, Sept. 29. The Badgers then won two on the road — defeating Grangeville 4-0 on Friday, Sept. 30, and Orofino 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 1.
The JV also had a game at Orofino on Oct. 1 and tied 2-2. The team played away against Priest River on Wednesday, Oct. 5, winning 1-0.
