Conservatives need to stick together

| October 13, 2022 1:00 AM

"A house divided against itself can not stand." — Abraham Lincoln

"Just the facts, ma’am." — Joe Friday

These are messages we, the conservative Republicans of Boundary County, need to understand.

There has recently been growing division among our own ranks. Clearly, even as conservatives, we're not going to see eye to eye on every single issue. And where those disagreements are significant enough to spark debate, we should have that debate. Or rather a conversation. And we ought to be able to state our case based on verifiable facts.

But lately we’re not having discussions. We’re just tossing out names and allegations.

It’s wrong minded to think that just because someone is new to the area they must be trying to take over and change everything. It’s equally wrong to assume because someone has lived here a long time they are “cronies.”

It’s wrong to label someone or some group “Far-Right Christian terrorists” because they quote scripture when supporting their position. It’s worse yet to call a family that’s lived here a long time “Corrupt” because they support a candidate that you don’t support.

But that seems to be where we are. It’s got to stop. We’re tearing our house apart.

We conservatives agree on at least 80% of our positions, likely more than that. We’re supposed to be on the same team here and we have a formidable opponent.
