Fioravanti has read the small print
"The most terrifying words in the English language are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"
Does anyone remember that quote from Ronald Reagan's 1981 inaugural speech?
That might be paraphrased nowadays to say, "I'm from the government and I'm here to give you free money with no string attache."
Does anyone out there believe the government will give us free money with no strings attached?
The Boundary County commissioners have taken $2 million from the federal
American Rescue Plan Act. They say there are no strings attached.
Well, it seems there is at least money string attached. That is a U.S. Treasury document that says that by taking the ARPA money the county agrees to "abide with all federal terms, conditions, mandates and executive orders."
Testing your memory again: Does anyone remember President Biden's COVID vaccine mandates from last year?
Are all of you county employees ready to submit to a vaccine mandate or whatever other mandates President Biden might dream up?
It seems that Steve Fioravanti is the only candidate for Boundary County commissioner who has read the small print and is opposed to taking free money
from the government (with no strings attached).
