In nominating Miss Dollie Bruce as the candidate for county auditor at the November election the republicans of Boundary County have selected a young woman whose qualifications cannot be questioned.

The Idaho-Continental, near Porthill is mining on a two-shift basis and milling on a three-shift basis when there is enough to mill and is producing 18 to 20 tons of concentrates daily. This monthly accumulation is about 600 tons containing 68 percent lead and 23 ounces of silver to the ton.

Five months of agriculture instruction for eight graduates, 16 years of age or older, will be offered in the University short course at Moscow this winter.

Al Grunerud, 82, on September 27, has officially been named “Sidewalk Superintendent and Certified Inspector” by the Idaho Department of Highways. Al has spent many hours attaining the status on the Bonners Ferry bypass project.

The Academy of the Rockies will hold the first of several open-house visits this Sunday from 12:30-4:30. The Academy, the first boarding school of its kind in North Idaho, opened here in September with fourteen students from across the nation.

This year’s "Key Award" winners are Helen Patterson, Nancy Dinning, and Nancy Neumeyer. The young ladies received the awards at 4-H Award night.

A Bonners Ferry-area man helped save a barn, chickens, and a turkey from a fire that destroyed a chicken coop Tuesday. Mike McGinniss spotted the blaze at 5:50 am off Highway 95 near Mt. Hall Junction north of Bonners Ferry while going elk hunting.

Boundary County Museum is getting a new entrance that will face Rotary Park and the new Bonners Ferry International Gateway Visitors Center.

The owner of the former Crown-Pacific mill site has hired a firm from Portland, Ore., to study the best possible use for the property.
