BCSD 'back to drawing board' on facility maintenance
BONNERS FERRY — With the school bond failing to gain enough votes for approval in the August election, Superintendent Jan Bayer has asked the school board that she be given a couple of months to go back to the drawing board.
She said she’ll reconvene the facilities committee and look to adding new individuals on the committee for more input on how to continue to maintain BCSD facilities. She asked that the board nominate people to the committee.
Bayer said it would be difficult if there were too many people on the committee, but more voices could be helpful.
At the September meeting, BCSD officials updated the district’s substitute pay. Currently the pay is at $12 an hour. After 20 days of substituting at the district, the sub will receive $13 an hour. This does not require that the substitute teacher teach 20 consecutive days.
If a substitute subs for 10 consecutive days, then they are paid at the starting teacher salary.
