We need a change in Boundary County

| October 20, 2022 1:00 AM

I have lived in Bonners Ferry all my life and I love so much about it. This is the first time I have written to the paper because I feel that I have something to say.

I am a young man not long out of high school and some of my friends are looking for work that they could be happy with and make decent money at so they wouldn’t have to look elsewhere like Coeur d'Alene, Spokane or Boise. There is not much out there unless you want to do farm work, construction or drive a logging truck.

What interests young people? How about a business that allows young people to use their talents — if someone needed a helper to clean up, or stack wood, or mend a fence, or shop for a person who was unable to get out, they could call and hire the helper for the day. It would give young people a purpose, away from the boredom that leads to trouble. Unfortunately, there are so many rules and regulations to follow in setting up a business, it seems almost impossible. The current county commissioners don’t see these problems. They don’t see that having no direction leads to boredom, partying and often addicting drugs. It’s a bigger problem than they know.

Mr. Fioravanti has said that he wants jobs for young people here in the county and that he would strongly support making that happen. It needs to be different here. My friends want to stay in this county if they can. We want a change because it’s not really working for the younger people now. Vote for Steve Fioravanti for county commissioner.
