BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners Ferry High School volleyball team’s Volley for a Cure fundraiser raised $4,476 for the local Cancer Support Group.

Community members and sports fans alike came out in pink to support the cause.

“There was not a dry eye in the gym as we supported the fighters, honored the survivors, and remembered those taken all while beating Timberlake and raising money for our local Cancer Support Group,” Badger volleyball coaching staff said.

Coaches said they and the team wanted to thank all of the community members and businesses who supported this year’s event. They also gave a big shout out to Idaho Forest Group whose donation of a unit of lumber brought in $750 alone.

Organizers also thanked Kootenai River Inn, Sugar Plum Floral, Pizza Factory, 9B Family Foundations, Turner Plumbing, Beehaven, 9B Wreaths, Lucas Car Detailing, General Feed and Grain, and many individual donors who made the evening’s fundraiser a huge success.

In all, the Boundary County Middle School leadership raised $752, ticket sales netted $800, and the silent auction made $2,924 for a grand total of $4,476 raised that will be donated directly to the group.

“Our volleyball teams were honored to play and contribute toward helping local families in need in their fight against cancer,” coaching staff said.

“Again, thank you for all that donated and participated and we’ll see you at next year’s Volley for a Cure event, and remember, real Badgers wear pink,” organizers said.
