Badger volleyball starts season strong

KALISPEL — Badger volleyball is 2-0, beating Stillwater Christian earlier this week and Kellogg last week.

The Badgers defeated Stillwater Christian 3-1, going 25-12, 21-25, 25-12, 25-23 in four matches. The JV also won, going 3-1, while the C team fell 1-3.

For the Badgers, Asha Abubakari had eight kills, Helene Rae had seven and Kimberly Lucas had six. Avery Bayer had six aces.

The Badgers are 2-0 and will face Libby today and Sandpoint on Saturday.

Volleyball beats Wildcats in season opener

KELLOGG — The Badgers beat the Kellogg Wildcats on Aug. 24, 3-1 in the volleyball team’s season opener.

Emma Lucas and Braylyn Bayer each earned digs by serving 100 percent. Senior Emma Lucas was named player of the game by the Badgers. Lucas played all four sets and scored five aces.

Asha Abubakari had three aces and claimed 10 kills, or a non-returnable offensive attack which led to a point scored. Helene Rae had six kills, four aces and served 95%. Ellie Falck had four aces.

In the four-game match, the Badgers led 25-19 in the first, but were down in the second 25-21. In the next two sets were a battle with the badgers taking the win both times 25-22.

It was also a great night for JV, which beat Kellogg as well.
