Story has been updated.

BONNERS FERRY — The zany, fun, family-friendly comedy and magic show will be returning to Boundary County this month.

Dave the Magic Man told the Bonners Ferry Herald that his specialty is clean, zany comedy and magic. The Magic Man said he first fell in love with magic when he was a kid and visited the prestigious Magic Castle in Hollywood. He was so amazed with the history of Houdini and other famous magicians displayed at The Academy of Magic Arts that he insistently asked for magic tricks for his birthday.

With birthday cash in hand, he made it to the magic store and bought his money's worth of tricks. Before he became Dave the Magic Man, young Dave forced his parents to watch his act but soon he moved to doing magic shows at Blue and Gold banquets for Boy Scout troops and birthday parties.

Many of Dave the Magic Man’s shows have themes. When performing at schools, he has done magic shows around the theme of “Just say ‘no’ to drugs” and encouraging literacy.

“Many of my shows are based around the idea that if you read books they’ll take you everywhere,” he said.

He added when he has a theme, he tends to wear an outfit that matches.

Dave the Magic Man will be the main act for the end of summer reading party for the Boundary County Library. Due to the fire situation, the fairgrounds are currently being utilized as the incident base, therefore the location of the Boundary County Library Summer Reading Finale has been changed to the park in front of the library. Come by Friday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. for fun, prizes, free books and Dave the Magic Man.

There will also be prizes and free books. Organizers suggest audience members bring a towel or a blanket to sit on.

Dave the Magic Man will also have two shows at the Pearl Theater on Saturday, Sept. 24, with a matinee at 2 p.m. and a later family show at 7:30 p.m. Shows go about an hour.
