Sept. 11 memorial event scheduled

| September 1, 2022 1:00 AM

In honor of those whose lives were lost or permanently impacted on Sept. 11, 2001, the Boundary County Chaplain Corps is hosting a local commemoration at the Boundary County Fairgrounds Pavilion on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 3 p.m. Representatives of emergency services agencies will be in attendance, and the public is urged to attend to remember and reflect upon one of the most momentous days in the nation’s history.

The commemoration will feature a tolling of the bell to honor those who died at the Twin Towers in New York, a reading to call those in attendance to courage and hope and a final bell toll to honor the dead at the Pentagon, Shanksville, Pa., and the first responders that perished in New York that horrific day. The Boundary County Fire Rescue Honor Guard will present the colors.

The community is invited to come and demonstrate to the region that Boundary County honors and emulates the courage in the face of tragedy that was so abundantly seen in the events of 9/11. The venue is covered, and the event will take place rain or shine.

BCCC officials said they are grateful to the support of the community which helped them obtain an excellent sound system this past year to make sure everyone can clearly hear the presentations.
