Michael J. Facha Sr., 71, passed away Aug. 26, 2022, surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.

Mike is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Shirley Facha; their two sons, Michael and wife Dawn, and Christopher and wife Libby; grandchildren Courteney, Hannah and Hunter; his mother, Charlotte Robinson; mother-in-law Wilma Watkins; stepsisters Dottie, Judy, Susan and DeDe, and stepbrother Tim, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard and father-in-law Lonnie Watkins.

Mike was born Nov. 19, 1950, in Grass Valley, Calif., to Richard and Charlotte Facha. He started working at a very early age to help keep the family ranch, fruit orchards and equipment running. He then became a full-time mechanic as a teen for his uncle and fuel delivery driver for Arco. He moved his family to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, in 1977 and enjoyed many years working in the logging industry and log hauling. The highlight of his career was being one of the star operators shovel logging very steep ground on Afognak Island in Alaska.

Mike had many stories of building fast cars, motorcycles and being wild when he was young. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time with his family, the outdoors, woodworking, target shooting, teaching his sons and giving advice to anyone on how to fix most anything. He loved spoiling his dogs and giving them a great life. He helped many people over the years including neighbors suffering from illnesses or injuries. He was a good man, husband, provider, father and friend.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry. Cards and flowers can be sent to Bonners Ferry Funeral Home, 6485 Harrison St., Bonners Ferry, ID 83805.
