Softball came within one run in doubleheader
THOMPSON FALLS — Badger girls softball came within one run in game two of a double header against Thompson Falls on April 8.
“We had a rocky start, but really picked up the momentum in the second game,” Bonners Ferry head coach Cynthia Sumpter said.
The Badgers fell in Game One 15-8, but shook off the loss and went into Game Two.
“Our base running was really aggressive and strong. We stole several bases and even home plate a couple of times,” she said. “We had some great hits, almost clearing the fence.”
Jodee Curtis started out pitching for the Badgers, striking out five in the second game.
Savannah Rickter pitched in the third inning with three strikeouts and Taylor Sumpter pitched the end of the first game, striking out three.
Sumpter said the Badgers have been working hard the past week, as they are finally able to practice in their own infield.
The Badgers are scheduled to play a double header at Timberlake on April 14.
