BONNERS FERRY — Despite Boundary County Watchman officials saying the group was changing its emblem to a custom logo, Boundary County commissioners moved forward with trademarking the county’s seal.

On April 9, BCW announced over social media that they have received a custom logo and should have it in a week.

“How exciting to be able to have a logo that represents the cause,” Adrienne Norris with BCW wrote. “Anyways thank you to the anonymous donor. I would prefer to have my own logo anyways.”

Norris and BCW continue their stance that the county can’t prevent anyone from using the county seal while “expressing their grievance to their government.”

Tevis Hull, the county’s chief deputy prosecutor, asked the commissioners at the Monday meeting if they wished to proceed with trademarking the seal. He added in the 10 years he’d represented the county this was the only time he’d had to issue a cease and desist regarding the use of the county seal.

Commissioner Tim Bertling said the commissioners had gone so far in the process, it didn’t make sense to stop. He suggested they approve the trademark so a future board won’t have the same issue.

The commissioners kept their motion to trademark the county seal provided it was allowed by the Idaho Secretary of State.
