Joe B. Gilmer, 85

Joe was born in Kingsport, Tenn., to Joe and Kitty Gilmer on May 30, 1937.

He went to school and played football at Dobbins Bennet High School and Northwest Mississippi Jr. College. He worked in the oilfields in Mississippi and Louisiana.

Joe purchased Acco Cable in Bakersfield, Calif., in 1964. He moved to Troy, Mont., in 1982 and married Connie Taylor in 1984. They ran Acco Cable together until retiring in 2006.

Joe passed peacefully on Feb. 20, 2023.

He is survived by his wife, Connie of 38 years; son Brian and wife Paula and their children Kelsey and Bake; son Jeff and wife Robin and their children Erika, Hailey and Rob; and two great-grandsons, Jaxon and Benjamin. He also has two brothers, Jerry and Philip of Johnson City, Tenn.

There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. MDT Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Troy Community Baptist Church.
