Museum event celebrates community's music, poem
When is the last time you heard "The White Caribou Bar", a poem written by Professor O'Dell; or "Our Towns That Are," a poem written by F.B. Camp? Have you ever sung "The Bonners Ferry Special" (writer unknown)?
When the community comes to a program offered in Portrait Hall on Saturday, May 6, they are in for a treat. That's because Gary Eller is returning to Bonners Ferry to share his "Songs and Poems of the Early Idaho Panhandle Region," an Idaho Humanities Council grant project that began in 2021.
As part of the event, at 11 a.m., "Sir Flowers," the 2130 Alpha +team's robot will be here to delight and educate all. The team recently returned from competition in Nampa and will have stories to share.
The Songs project will begin at 1:30 p.m. The community is invited to learn about the people who developed the Idaho Panhandle region and how their history is recorded through stories, songs, and poems.
