Track Roundup: Finney Co-Ed Relays, IML Duals

POST FALLS — Badger track and field teams have been busy, competing at the IML Duals and in Washington.

At the Finney Co-Ed Relays at Post Falls High School, Bonners Ferry athletes Asha Abubakari and Maggie Weaver placed in all of their events. Aiden Beggerly won the high jump and Logan Archibald tied for the high jump.

In throwing events Asha Abubakari took second in the shot put at 39—6.5 and won the discus at 126—2, a new PR. She won the long jump at 15—9.5 and took third in triple jump at 32–00.

Maggie Weaver took second in the high jump at 4—8.

In boys high jump, Bonners Ferry freshman Logan Archibald tied for second at 5–6. Badgers Riley Petesch and Aiden Beggerly were part of a six-way tie for fourth place at 5–4.

Beggerly took first in the high jump with a mark of 19–9. Petesch took second in the triple jump at 41-00.

For the girls, Makeena Baisden took sixth in the 200m at 29.13, just 0.02 seconds behind fourth place Aliya Strock of Sandpoint. Baiseden also took fourth in the 400m at 1:03.67, a new personal record.

Bonners Ferry girls took fourth in the 4X400m relay at 4:31.96. The team included Brooke Petesch, Makenna Baisden, Alexandra Fodge and Mia Blackmore.

Badger girls finished in fourth and the boys took eight out of nine co-ed teams.

Rae wins shot put at Van Kuren Invite, Weaver and Petsch place

CHENEY — Badger Helene Rae won the shot put at the Van Kuren Invite against Washington and Idaho schools of all classifications Saturday.

Rae won the shot put with a mark of 36–05.5, a new personal record.

Maggie Weaver took third in the high jump, maintaining her PR from the day at the IML Duals at 4–10.

Riley Petesch, took fourth in the triple jump at 40–00.5 and took sixth in the high jump at 5–08 and seventhat in the 110m hurdles at 16.68

Abubakari places in two events at Pasco

PASCO — Badger Track and Field Athlete, Asha Abubakari competed at the Pasco Invite on Saturday and placed in shot put and long jump against athletes from Washington Idaho schools across classifications.

Abubakari took third in the shot put at a mark of 38–06.25. In the long jump she made a new personal record at the mark of 16–03.75, just behind Washington 4A athlete, Madeline Storhoff of Kennedy Catholic at 16-10.00.

Abubakari took 15th in the discus at 108-00. In the triple jump, she finished 23rd at 31–10.00. Her season best in triple jump is 32–2.5.

Abubakari is the defending 3A state champion in the girls discus and shot put.

Badger takes second at duals

BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry and Timberlake Track and Field teams went head-to-head at the Intermountain League Duals on Friday.

Coeur d’Alene Charter, also a member of the IML, was not present at the event.

Both Timberlake teams ultimately won the track meet, but the Badgers put on a good show winning, placing in many events and being ranked in the top of the IML.

For the Badgers, senior Maggie Weaver won the high jump with a new personal record at 4-10.

Makena Baisden, a freshman, took second in the 200m at 29.87. Sydney Beckle took first in the 3200m at 12:46.20.

Teams Scores

Boys: 1, Timberlake 113.66; 2, Bonners Ferry 31.33.

Girls: 1, Timberlake 87.5; 2, Bonners Ferry 58.5.
