The funeral of J.M. Schnatterly, a prominent mining man, who was killed in an explosion which occurred on his cruiser launch on the Kootenai River on April 11, was held in Spokane Monday afternoon.
The will of J.M. Schnatterly was presented in probate court in Spokane Tuesday. The instrument provides that approximately 75 percent of a $16,000 estate shall go to Florence E. Schnare, his adopted daughter and secretary.
Plans are practically completed for the construction this spring of four new brick business blocks on Main Street. Extending south from the City Hall building which is nearly completed. The four business blocks will occupy a frontage of 125 feet and will cost approximately $40,000.

Kiwanis International has chosen Easter Sunday as the first day of a week-long celebration of “Canada- U.S. Goodwill Week.” Mayor A.J. Baylon, in cooperation with the local Kiwanis Club, has signed a proclamation endorsing activities.
“The Corner Café” as it has become in the past few weeks, formerly Don’s and Freddy’s and Doug’s Litehouse of late, has been purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Dinning in a transaction consummated late last week. Dinning noted they are contemplating a name change at the business but to date have not made a decision in that matter.
C.C. "Clint" Krugel celebrated his 85th birthday Sunday and was saying how happy he was Monday when “the gal at the Sheriff’s Office,” told him she’d see him in three more years to renew his driver's license.

The 2007-2008 Bonners Ferry High School Academic Decathlon team earned seventh place at the State Competition on March 15. The BFHS AcaDeca team is led by Amy Cowley.
From 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 21, local law enforcement officers and officials will take their oath to protect and “serve” to a new level, trading in their handcuffs and badges for menus and serving trays to assist at the Kootenai River Inn Springs Restaurant. Donations, in the form of tips to the officers, will benefit Idaho’s Special Olympics athletes.
Sue Larson was sworn in as Chief Deputy Treasurer for the county by Treasurer Jennifer Fessler.
The Bonners Ferry Badgers continue their winning ways sweeping league opponent Kellogg Wildcats 4-1 in baseball Saturday, April 12. The win improves the first-place Badgers to 3-0 in league and 6-2 overall while Kellogg drops to 0-2 in league and 1-5 overall.
